During harvest each year, the first question asked by most people in the Australian grains industry is ‘how much of the crop has been harvested?’. The whole supply chain eagerly awaits daily news and returned calls to get a gauge on this so that the actual and potential tonnage in the system can be understood, supply chain and marketing decisions considered and if the weather is bad, the level of risk calculated.
