As the world grain industry digests fluctuations in seasonal and geopolitical conditions, it’s useful to remember the fundamentals associated with the Global and Australian barley industries to consider future supply chain trends and developments.

Global barley production has been tracking between 140-150 mmt over the last decade. The EU as a block routinely accounts for ~50mmt of this but if production is broken down to the national level, Russia has been the largest producer. Australia comes in at #3 over a ten year period and #2 in the last few years . . .
